Every way of communicating counts: gestures, signs, AAC, speech and home languages.
I bring over 13 years of experience across NHS and private practice, supporting children, families and schools in Birmingham and beyond.
Utter Confidence supports parents through parent groups and universal communication support: practical ideas for everyday routines, shared learning and opportunities to build confidence in supporting a child’s communication. My work aims to bridge the gap between speech and language therapy and families.
Whether your concern is speech sounds, understanding language or getting a message across, start by telling Layla what you’ve noticed. Together, we can discuss a suitable next step.
Buying a resource is not a requirement for enquiring about therapy. We’ll discuss your child’s age and needs, appointment format, location, availability and fees before you book.

A plan that fits your child
Where therapy is appropriate, agree goals and practical support with the adults around your child, with review built into the plan.
Support can combine therapist sessions with agreed activities delivered by trained adults. For speech sounds, extra practice should follow suitable SLT guidance.
Independent summaries of public RCSLT guidance. RCSLT has not endorsed Utter Confidence or these products.
BRIDGING THE GAP WITH FAMILIES
Support that starts with everyday life.
Parent groups offer a space to ask questions, share experiences and explore ways to support communication through play, books and familiar routines. Our universal support gives adults practical strategies they can use day to day.
We aim to reduce barriers to understanding and accessing communication support, including for families from socially disadvantaged backgrounds and those facing language or cultural barriers. Contact us to discuss your needs, available parent groups and support options.
LUMANEST RESPITE AND COMMUNICATION CIC
Communication support beyond the therapy room
For families of children with speech, language and communication needs, LumaNest offers a separate communication-focused respite service with SLT-led activities. It supports children’s participation and gives parents time for themselves.
LumaNest is a separate organisation. Its respite sessions complement communication support and do not replace an individual speech and language therapy assessment or programme. Contact LumaNest to discuss suitability and availability.
Our webinars bring speech and language therapy expertise to your team, with practical demonstrations and strategies for supporting children’s communication throughout the day.
The toolkit plus a 45-minute live staff webinar is £175. Suitable for early years teams, teachers, teaching assistants and SENCos. Topics can include everyday communication, offering choices and pauses, AAC and home languages. Discuss the topic, group size and available dates before booking.
Choose Hotspots & Tricky Spots for everyday communication spaces and routines (ages 1–7). Choose Speech Sound Practice for /k/, /f/ and /s/ activities supporting an SLT-agreed plan (mainly age 3+). Choose the Everyday Communication Toolkit for 11 posters, a staff and parent guide and a team practice plan. The products are separate; one purchase does not include the others.
What is the difference between home and setting licences?
A home licence covers one household. A setting licence covers one named school or nursery site and its staff. Setting staff may give selected printed sheets to enrolled families; they must not send the full digital pack to families or other sites. The poster toolkit permits printed posters for enrolled families with branding retained. No public uploading, resale or rebranding. Ask about multi-site use.
Do I need a speech and language therapist’s plan?
For targeted speech-sound practice and contrast activities, yes: an SLT should agree the target, word position, starting level, cue and feedback. The speech collection also offers everyday modelling and familiar-word listening without requesting repetition. Hotspots and the poster toolkit are general educational support. None includes assessment or an individual therapy programme.
How will I receive my download?
Each purchase button opens the matching Payhip product. After payment, Payhip provides the download and emails a receipt with access information. The speech collections include separate A4 and A3 colour and low-ink PDFs. Hotspots includes colour and low-ink PDFs for A4 printing or enlarging to A3. The poster toolkit includes dedicated A4 and A3 poster PDFs. Print a sample page first, at the matching paper size without cropping.
Are the resources available in Arabic?
The products currently linked here are English editions. The speech-sound collection uses English words and is not an Arabic speech programme. Home languages are welcomed throughout our approach. Contact Layla about translation needs before purchasing.
What if I need help, a refund or an invoice?
Contact Layla with your order number and the issue. Read the refund and cancellation information and purchase terms. Your statutory rights are not affected. Schools can enquire about invoices, training or multi-site licences.
For a first enquiry, share your name, contact details and a brief outline. Please don’t send sensitive child records before we arrange a secure way to share them.
